- Atlas of America's Polluted Waters--The maps in this atlas depict the waters within each state that do not meet state water quality standards. States listed these waters in their most recent submission to EPA, generally in 1998, as required by section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act.
- Liquid Assets 2000: America's Water Resources at a Turning Point--provides a snapshot of the economic value of clean water, the problems we face in the new millennium, and the actions we must take to protect and restore the nation's water resources. This report explores the current condition of the nation's water resources and demonstrates the link between clean water and a strong economy by focusing on specific businesses and activities that rely on clean water.
- Public Involvement in Environmental Permits: A Reference Guide. (August 2000)--The Reference Guide (published by US EPA's Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response) summarizes the major permitting programs under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. It also gives an overview of the core requirements for public involvement activities in these permitting programs. The Reference Guide then provides best practices and a model plan for implementing effective public participation activities under these programs, and provides a compendium of additional resources and contacts for use in implementation.

- The Guide to Sustainable Community Indicators (2nd ed.) explains the concepts of sustainability and indicators, and how to identify effective sustainability indicators for your community. This 202-page publication is written in terms easily understood by community economic developers, grassroots activists, municipal and state agency staff, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses. It includes detailed descriptions of sample indicators for topics such as business, production, recreation, land use, and transportation, as well as a list of over 400 indicators being used by communities of all sizes.
