Numerous aquatic professionals who were very familiar with aquatic fauna of the southern Appalachians were surveyed as to their opinions on the range of wild trout in the SAA area. They were asked to sketch on to 1:2,000,000 county maps what they believed was the range of wild trout. These opinions were collected by Patrica Flebbe and from these maps, a single range map was interpolated. 2. TVA's Integrated Assessment team digitized the boundary off of a 1:2,000,000 SAA county map. Much of the northern range boundary is derived from the 1:2,000,000 SAA boundary. The coverage was cleaned with a dangle length of 0.01 and a fuzzy tolerance of 0.001. 3. The 1:100,000 RF3 Stream Reach coverage was intersected with the trout boundary - assigning a trout present, absent, or stocked value to each reach. This coverage was then clipped with the trout range coverage.
